A CARING GOD....

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the test was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old man's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry."

The God of the universes, as high and mighty as He is, tenderly and unbelievably looks after His own. He's into the details of our lives. He's the One who saw His servant Elijah destitute and alone by the Brook Cherith and miraculously sent ravens with bread and meat in the morning and evening and made sure the brook flowed plentifully with refreshing water (1 Kings 17:1ff). God then sent him to a widow who, though poor herself, would, by God's grace, feed him and care for him. What a God!

The same God, in the person and work of Jesus, made this promise, "Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. Indeed, the very hairs of your hears are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable then many sparrows" (Luke 12:6,7).

Praise God "for we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin" (Hebrews 4:15).
