FROM THE
BOOK OF WISDOM...... "So that your trust may be in the Lord,
I have taught you today, even you." - 22:19
I have taught you today, even you." - 22:19
If FAITH is
moving to the open arms of God believing in Him and His Word, then TRUST is
resting on His breast while those arms enfold and keep you.
Christians
should ever be growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. But, sometimes,
our "thinkers" just don't function too well. We may be weary, mentally inept or just having a real bad day. So, what CAN we do? We can TRUST! A Sunday
School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted
passages in the Bible....Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the
verses. Little Bobby was excited about the assignment but just couldn't remember
the entire Psalm. After much practice, he could hardly get past the first line.
One the day the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the
congregation, Bobby was really nervous. When it came his turn, he stepped up to
the microphone and said, with confidence, "The Lord is my
Shepherd......and that's all I need to know."
At times all
we CAN do is TRUST Him, resting on His breast while He understandingly enfolds us in His arms
and keeps us!
"Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him" (Psalms 103:13).
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him" (Psalms 103:13).
And, it's a
vital part of our testimony. A little boy walked down the beach, and as he did,
he spied a matronly woman sitting under a beach umbrella on the sand. He walked
up to her and asked, "Are you a Christian?" She nodded her head and
said, "Yes." "Do you pray often?" the boy asked next, and
again she said, "Yes." With that he asked his final question,
"Will you hold my quarter while I go swimming?" If we trust the Lord,
hopefully others will find it easy to trust us.
